During his career, Nicolás has focused his practice on comprehensive corporate advice, labour law, and public law.

Career Path

He was Minister of Labour and Social Welfare from March 11, 2018, to October 28, 2019.
He was a Deputy of the Republic of Chile between 2002 and 2018, being President of the House of Deputies of Chile between 2012 and 2013.
Throughout his parliamentary career he was a member of the Labour Commission, chairing on several occasions.
In January 2020, he was appointed Ambassador of Chile in Argentina, a position he held until March 2022.
In November 2022, he joined GNP_Canales as Legal and Public Affairs Director.

For more than twenty years Nicolás has been a teacher in different institutes of higher education.
He is currently a professor at the Law School of the Universidad Andrés Bello, in the Department of Public and Labour Law.
During the first semester of 2022, Nicolás taught classes on “Public Law and Rule of Law in Latin America” at the FIU (Florida International University), a master class he shared with the former President of Argentina Mauricio Macri.
